Smile-Friendly Smoothie: A Dentist-Approved Recipe for Healthy Teeth

We’re all about keeping things fresh—especially your smile. So, we’re sharing one of our favourite smoothie recipes that’s not only delicious and energising, but also kind to your teeth. It’s low in sugar, high in calcium, and packed with ingredients that support a healthy mouth and body. Because good oral health isn’t just about brushing—what you eat matters too.

Smile-Friendly Green Smoothie Recipe

Makes 2 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or dairy milk for calcium boost)

  • 1 small frozen banana

  • ½ cup baby spinach (rich in folic acid)

  • ½ cup plain Greek yoghurt (great for calcium + probiotics)

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (loaded with fibre and omega-3s)

  • 1 teaspoon almond butter

  • ½ cup frozen pineapple or apple (adds natural sweetness without refined sugar)

  • Optional: A small piece of cucumber or mint for extra freshness

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender.

  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. Pour into your favourite glass or takeaway bottle.

  4. Enjoy with a straw (your enamel will thank you).

Why Your Teeth Will Love It

  • Low in sugar: Unlike fruit juices or store-bought smoothies, this recipe won’t flood your mouth with sugars that fuel bacteria.

  • Calcium-rich: Greek yoghurt and milk help strengthen teeth and support bone density.

  • High in fibre: Chia seeds and greens help regulate pH levels in the mouth and promote saliva production.

  • Banana and pineapple: Sweet, but not sticky—an important difference for dental health.

  • Almond butter: Adds healthy fats and protein without sugar spikes.

    Pro Tip from Our Team

Even with tooth-friendly ingredients, sipping smoothies all day can expose your enamel to acids for too long. So keep it to mealtimes, use a reusable straw, and give your mouth a rinse with water after drinking.
